- 1 loaf Challah( or Brioche) bread cut into slices
- 5 eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 cups peeled, cored and chopped pears ( substitute with apples if desired)
Cut bread into thick slices and set aside. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. Prepare a deep baking dish( butter sides and bottom of pan). Dip bread slices in mixture and place in baking dish. Scatter pears over bread and pour the remaining liquid mixture evenly on top of bread. Top with added cinnamon. Refrigerate over night. Bake for breakfast at 350F for 50-60 minutes. Serve with warm maple syrup. Great recipe for a breakfast or brunch gathering.
