Nature is beginning to bloom—warmer days, little buds on the trees, hints of flowers starting to open and more daylight means that a beautiful season of new growth is on its way. These changes inspire us to get outside, switch up our routines, and enjoy the fresh air. A new beginning in nature motivates us to think about making some changes on the inside as well.

Here are our top six tips for rejuvenating our homes and ourselves:
Bring in flowers, plants, and various florals
Think renewal and fresh brightness as you style your interiors and arrange seasonal blooms in your home. This month is the perfect time to force spring bulbs to open indoors—hyacinth, narcissus, crocus, and so many varieties of tulips are ideal choices. A woven container filled with your favorite spring flowers makes a wonderful addition to any table setting or indoor space. Add plants and bulbs in various containers throughout your home—glass jars, vases or baskets. As buds begin to bloom they are perfect to incorporate in a table setting, on a side tray, or in various areas of your living space.
Add soft florals and new greenery, faux or real—or a little of both. Change out your winter greenery for a lighter, fresh feeling in your home. Beautiful, brightly simple branches are a cheerful reminder that spring is on its way. We love to style a little sunshine in our arrangements with forsythia, quince, or cherry blossoms simply placed in a statement vase—an artistic focal point to formally welcome springtime into our home.
Change up your home fragrance
Fresh and airy is our go-to vibe for spring—lemon, gardenia, sea salt, jasmine, lavender. We like to use diffusers around our home and lots of freshly scented candles. We’ve learned to incorporate layers of scents to achieve the signature environment that feels like home to us.
Refresh through simplifying
Don’t you feel a calmer peace of mind when your home is clutter-free and tidy? We sure do! “Spring cleaning” might be a cliché but at plj, this new season really is about simplifying and lightening our indoor spaces. It’s amazing how much more clear-headed and energized we feel when our workspace, closets, pantry, and home are organized. 1. Plan a picnic lunch, grab an iced coffee, or honor whatever springtime tradition you choose to celebrate the new season.
2. Make a beautiful spring flower arrangement, buy new plants for your indoor space, or force spring bulbs in your favorite vases. If you live in a temperate area, fill your patio planters with your favorite blooms.
3. Set your alarm and watch the sunrise. Take our word for it—watching the sun brighten the world truly brings joy and hope to each new day.
4. Enjoy nature. Take a walk, run, or bike ride—whatever it is you like to do outside, be grateful for the warmer weather.
5. Make up your mind to do something new this season. Start a new book, plan a trip, plant a garden, learn the basics of a new language, take a cooking or movement class… whatever is meaningful to you. Let springtime be your motivation to make it happen!

It’s natural for us to feel restless at times or a little too comfortable with our routines. We’re here to tell you: don’t wait for the right moment. If there’s something you’ve been thinking about, go ahead and try it. Living joyfully is all about making the most of our moments—every day. Too often we put things off for a “better time” that might never arrive. Make your time matter now. We know you deserve it! New experiences are inspiring and encourage us to reach for new heights. When you stop holding yourself back, you’ll be amazed by the renewed energy you’ll feel.

Think Green
One of the things we love about St. Patrick’s Day is an occasion to celebrate everything green. Set the table with a bowl of fresh limes or a vase of limelight hydrangeas. Toss a handful of kale into your favorite smoothie. Lighten up your dinner routine with super salads like our parmesan chopped or shaved brussels sprout salad. Turn your pasta green with our favorite springtime recipes—garden herb pasta salad and lemon orzo with spinach.

If you feel like celebrating the luck of the Irish, look around for what’s happening in your community around the Big Green Day. If there’s an Irish pub nearby, chances are there will be live Irish music featured on or around St. Patrick’s Day, and you can likely catch an Irish dance show as well in your community. Irish traditional music is meant to get you moving and as such it’s a great way to enliven your spring step! Supporting live music and dance, at any moment of the year, is a wonderful way to share the joy of connection and celebration with our family and community.

Host a pizza get-together
We love making pizza, whether for a game night, a family movie fest, or a fun time with friends. It’s simple to make and always a fan favorite. We’ve shared several tutorials on pizza-making and you can find various topping recipes in our epicure. The real secret: a smart selection of ingredients means there will be something for everyone. Bell peppers, red onions, pineapple, fresh basil, and arugula are great ways to keep things fresh, bright, and colorful (all while adding a healthy spring dose of green). Sliced mushrooms, artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes, and a variety of cheeses will bring joy to the gourmands. And don’t forget a selection of pepperoni, ham, prosciutto, or sausage for the meat lovers. We have a few family signature favorites—caramelized onions with fig jam, prosciutto and fresh arugula, and a caprese pizza that seems to always make it to our table.

Make the most of March Madness
If you are a college basketball fan, this is your month of spirited fun. We’ve got plenty of ideas on our epicure to bring your game-day snacks to the next level—soft pretzels, fresh spring rolls, flavored popcorn, and so much more.

Springtime Epicure

This month we’ve chosen recipes designed to simplify, lighten, and freshen our menus for spring—farmer’s market pasta, lots of green salads, Vietnamese fresh rolls, make-your-own pizzas, and game-day snacks. For breakfast, banana yogurt bread and vanilla chia seed pudding are light, healthy, and delicious. We’re craving all things Caribbean and sharing some of our faves: jerk chicken bowls with coconut rice and pineapple black bean salsa, coconut date smoothies, tuna poke bowls, and a coconut ricotta cake recipe we’re sure you’ll just love!
